 Baltimore Washington International Airport serves the Baltimore area but is also a major gateway to New York, Washington, and points all over the world.  If you have some extra time, especially if you are traveling with kids, visit the BWI Observation Deck with displays including the controls of a Boeing 737, communications at the airports, and fascinating airport and airplane history and trivia items.  There's also a kids play area.

BWI provides  about twelve miles of trail for walking, running, and birdwatching.   It's called the BWI Trail and begins at Elm Road, just minutes from the Terminal, or park at the Tom Dixon Aircraft Observation Area on Route 176.
